2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season Names Released Ahead of Storm Season

With the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season now just 100 days away, officials have already finalized the list of names that could soon dominate weather headlines across the Atlantic basin.

The rotating list, maintained by the World Meteorological Organization, is used each year to name tropical storms and hurricanes in alphabetical order while alternating between male and female names.

If a storm becomes especially deadly or costly, its name can be permanently retired — a reminder that some hurricane names become forever linked to historic disasters.

Here are the official names slated for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, listed alphabetically:

  • Arthur
  • Bertha
  • Cristobal
  • Dolly
  • Edouard
  • Fay
  • Gonzalo
  • Hanna
  • Isaias
  • Josephine
  • Kyle
  • Leah
  • Marco
  • Nana
  • Omar
  • Paulette
  • Rene
  • Sally
  • Teddy
  • Vicky
  • Wilfred

The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through Nov. 30, though storms have occasionally formed before the official start date in recent years.
