Florida is renaming a major east–west roadway to honor President Donald J. Trump.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 628 on Tuesday, officially designating all 124 miles of State Road 80 as “President Donald J. Trump Highway,” honoring Donald J. Trump from coast to coast.
The newly named stretch runs from Lee County on the Gulf side to Palm Beach County on the Atlantic — cutting straight across the state. In Palm Beach County, the road is better known as Southern Boulevard.
The move expands on a 2025 designation that only covered a smaller section of Southern Boulevard, from Kirk Road to South Ocean Boulevard near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
With the bill now law, the Florida Department of Transportation is expected to begin installing new highway markers as early as July 1.
The renaming push didn’t stop there.
Less than a month ago, DeSantis also signed legislation rebranding Palm Beach International Airport as “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” further cementing Trump’s name across key landmarks in the region.
State Rep. Meg Weinberger, who co-sponsored the bill, celebrated the move, calling it a “lasting tribute” that now stretches “from the Atlantic to the Gulf.”
The law officially takes effect July 1 — when SR 80 becomes Trump Highway, end to end.
